Roooooaaaaaaar!

Here is another sewing project nearly finished. I just needed something for practice and this was good for that. Lots of reading the pattern and trying to understand what it meant. I have to rad it 50 times before I actually do something and even then I make mistakes!

But it was all worth it when I put it on James and he was so giddy with excitement that I thought he was going to pee in it! So I made him take it off VERY quickly and go to the bathroom. Then he put it on again and ran around his house with his sword. I think he wanted a dragon costume, not a dinosaur, but luckily he doesn't notice a different yet.

From Big Man's Shorts to Little Man's Shorts

My latest craze is to take salvaged garments and make them into other things. There is a great blog called Wardrobe Refashion that I read often and has inspired me. It's fun to see what others make out of recycled clothes. So here's my first attempt and I think it has turned out rather well.

Before...

and After...

I bought the shorts from Goodwill for $3 and only put 15 hours into sewing them (haha). But I learned a lot and the next pair will go much quicker. Now I need to go back and get the blue Hawaiian print ones.

China Links

Here is our "journey to china" chain that James and I created. We strung it up in James' room, although I didn't quite tell him what it was for. Each chain represents a link and each month when referrals come out, we take off the chains through the date to which they matched families.

I thought it would be fun to have a visual and each time I look at it, I am reminded of all the people waiting for their babies in China.

Welcome!

Here we will post pictures and share events for friends and family. More to come...
