So Tired

I guess I haven't officially announced it on here... I'm pregnant!

I am almost 11 weeks along now.  Out of 40, that means I'm a quarter of the way through.

So today it hit me.  I haven't been tired at all but today, I'm exhausted.  All I want to do is curl up in a little ball and sleep.  Hard to do when you have two little ones running around.  Sounds like an early bedtime for this household!

Isn't exhaustion supposed to subside about now at the end of your first trimester?  Wondering why mine seems to be just starting.  Bring on the pregnancy symptoms I guess!

Reading Time

Before bedtime, we read books.  Calvin's parents saved all of his childhood books so we get to read through the same pages his parents read to him from.  The vintage pictures and classic Dr. Seuss books are my favorite.  Landon thinks he's outgrowing some of them, but his favorite is still Wacky Wednesday and he can now read Ten Apples Up On Top.

Calvin usually arrives right at bedtime for Etame, so here they are getting their "goodnights" in.

Twisting the Hair

I must have read somewhere that you can twist African American hair around your finger in small amounts. There is something called finger curls too, but I haven't researched that yet. Yes, I am on a whole Yahoo! group for adoptive parents about hair and skin care. There is a lot of information to learn!

I did this to Etame's hair after her bath this evening. Not sure what it will look like tomorrow but it was a fun change for tonight and easier on her head than those tiny rubber bands are.

The Event

This past weekend was the Boomer Esiason Cystic Fibrosis Event in NYC. We were lucky enough to attend through Under Armour and had a great time. Great stage show with different singers, costumes, and backup dancers - we danced a lot, after party with band, speakers, and quite the scene. There were over a thousand people in attendance and the single night of the event raised more than $4 million. What a success! Here are only a couple pictures of the event. I have a couple more from my camera that I will try to upload later.

The details... my tag (so I knew which was the front and back easily) and the beading which I sewed on after I cut it from a bracelet. The was the same beading on the waist.

Calvin, looking ever so good...

Me, wearing THE DRESS... finally. I felt so good in it. It fit well, flowed beautifully, and was a great point of conversation. My friends were very happy for me.

We stayed one night at the Waldorf Astoria, where the event was and then took the train back home. Lots of dancing, people to talk with, people watching, and Calvin even danced some with me!
