No Baby Yet

So, I'm actually writing this post as to bring on labor.  As in, "no baby yet"... oops spoke too soon.  Playing reverse psychology with Murphy's Law you know?

Yes, we are anxiously awaiting baby #3.  8 days until my due date but still, it could happen any minute.  Or it could be 15 days away and they will induce me.  Come on baby, make an appearance soon!

When I was pregnant with Landon, there were certain things I really really missed, like wearing high heels and dressy clothes.  Slingback heels were popular then and I couldn't wait to go out and buy a pair once I was done carrying Landon.  So that's what I did.  A week after his birth I was wearing heels, lugging around Landon in his car carrier seat.  Practical?  No.  But it felt good.

This time around, my life must be so different because I miss other things.  Particularly, the ability to do projects around the house.  I have an incredible urge to paint and to get out major power tools and create.  I miss being able to lift heavy things with abandon and do more risk-taking skills like using ladders and a saw.

I recently found the best blog, Ana-White, written by a stay-at-home-mom who doesn't let any heavy duty machine intimidate her.  She has furniture plans she writes for her readers and posts for free!  There are plans for bookcases, storage cabinets, shelves, desks, toy storage bins, beds, and everything useful and functional for the modern family.  The plans are laid out so easy to understand.  I can't wait to try some of her projects.  What a talented woman!

Now, if we could just have the baby...

What bedtime looks like in our house...

I came into Landon's room the other night, and he was dressed in full gear.

He said it was to scare the monsters away.

I couldn't help but laugh, although he was very serious about it.  We are redoing his room at the moment (another project pre-baby!) so stay tuned for pictures of that once we finish the paint and put in all the new decor.

I'm having a few contractions, especially at night after an eventful day, but no pain yet so we wait... 3 more weeks! Give or take a few days.

Drapes Finished

Just finished these curtains/drapes for my friend Carrie.  They will be in her little girl's room who she is expecting to hear about in less than a month!

She is adopting from China so she is on schedule to get her referral of her baby girl very soon.  I am on pins and needles praying for her to see a picture of her new daughter in this next group.  She has waited nearly 5 years!

These curtains were a special type of tab top that copies ones she had in her son's room.  I think they turned out very nice, tailored, and hope they work to counter all that pink that will fill the room.  The tab style is hidden, yet makes a nice faux pleat when put on the curtain rod.

I was very pleased with the results, and hope she is too.  It's always nerve wracking making something for another but usually my quality and standards are higher than when I make something for our own home!  These were lined with a made-from-bamboo fabric which had such a nice crisp, cool feel, like sheets that had been washed hundreds of times and stood up to the wear.

Onto the next project!  I would love to make some curtains this style for a few of our rooms, but I need to figure out paint and color scheme first!  I am also assembling a 100 good wishes quilt for Carrie for her daughter, once we decide on the design, size, and border fabric.  Can't wait to start on that too.  Hurray for finished projects!
